The Biomarker group at Calico is focused on translating novel research discoveries into effective therapeutics for a wide range of age-related clinical disorders. A key aspect of the group’s mission is to support clinical development by providing biomarker data to guide indication selection, patient selection, inform drug dosing and facilitate decision making in clinical development. Successful Biomarker development required deep understanding of the drug mechanism of action, coupled with the understanding of the biology that drives disease progression. The biomarker group is responsible for developing strategy as well as establishing robust assay platforms to provide biomarker support across disease indications. We are currently looking for motivated, experienced and enthusiastic researchers to advance biology-driven discovery, development and execution of clinical biomarkers for therapeutics with novel mechanisms of action.
The successful candidate will manage, coordinate and execute biomarker development for use in preclinical and clinical research with the primary goal of implementing impactful biomarkers in clinical trials. This includes collaborating and coordinating with Research and Development teams to discover and validate PD biomarkers for novel pathways, develop robust biomarker assays for both small molecules and biologics as well as perform data analysis. In addition to strong scientific skills in translational research/pharmacology, this individual must have strong communication skills to allow coordination of multiple projects and integration with different functions such as Research and Clinical Development.
PhD in life sciences and at least 3 years of industry experience. Postdoctoral experience in addition is highly preferred
Strong familiarity with molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology techniques is essential
Experience in developing, qualifying and running biomarker assays for both proteins and/or metabolites using various assay platforms
Expertise in bioanalytical methods such as high sensitivity immunoassays, flow cytometry, deep sequencing and/or mass spectrometry experience is highly desired
Expertise in immune cell biology is a plus
Proficiency in data analysis and graphing tools such as Spotfire, R, Python is highly desired
Excellent communication skills and ability to work on multidisciplinary project teams
