In anticipation of the Company’s growth plans, Denali Therapeutics is looking for a Senior Medical Science Liaison for the Northeastern US.
The successful candidate will be a field-based medical expert with the purpose of advancing patient care and informing company medical strategies throughout the drug life cycle through scientific exchange with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLS), and advocacy organizations. The incumbent will meet the scientific needs of the medical community by responding to unsolicited inquiries and facilitating scientific interactions with healthcare professionals and the medical community through the provision of disease state and product information. This includes developing and maintaining “peer to peer” scientific relationships with KOLs in health care, academia, and advocacy organizations. This individual will also contribute to the overall success of the Medical Affairs organization through involvement in internal initiatives aligned to medical objectives and in shaping processes and policies as organizational needs grow and evolve. Understanding of the relevant compliance framework for field medical activities, entrepreneurial drive to help the organization succeed, and passion for science and patients are essential.
Identify and develop scientific relationships with HCPs within a defined territory and provide credible, and fair-balanced information about Denali’s research activities and product development
Exchange medical information with the medical community on the science and clinical application of the portfolio and present insights to internal partners
Provide clinical trial support to identify potential sites, resolve issues with enrolled sites, and participated in investigator meetings, as appropriate; liaise with R&D, Medical Affairs, and Clinical Operations teams
Develop and maintain a high level of therapeutic area, disease state and product expertise
Lead and/or support regional and national medical, payer/health care organization, and patient society meetings to learn, gather clinical and business insights and support corporate activities
Lead and/or participate in training, and other internal efforts to support medical objectives; may serve as a training lead
May serve as a new hire mentor and/or international MSL mentor/trainer
Appropriately document interactions and act in accordance with company policies and guidelines
Doctorate level degree is required (PharmD, PhD, or MD preferred)
Specialty training in rare disease or neuroscience preferred
2+ years of industry experience, preferably in MSL role
In-depth scientific and/or therapeutic knowledge and record of accomplishment in the neurology therapeutic area required, preferably in rare neurological diseases, ALS, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease
Demonstrated history of scientific excellence
Highly motivated and capable of comprehending complex scientific/medical data and disseminating across diverse medical audiences
Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry from drug discovery and development through commercialization
Comprehensive understanding of laws, regulations, codes, standards, and guidelines regarding pharmaceutical industry practices related to medical science liaison activities
Advanced presentation and computer skills
Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently; take initiative and complete tasks on time
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
This role will support the Northeast US territory and may require up to 70% travel
