Calico is an Alphabet-funded research and development company whose mission is to harness advanced technologies to increase our understanding of the biology that controls lifespan, and to devise interventions that enable people to lead longer and healthier lives. Executing on this mission will require an unprecedented level of interdisciplinary effort and a long-term focus for which funding is already in place.
We seek an experienced Principal Investigator with an innovative research program that addresses fundamental questions about aging with a focus on mammalian skin tissue and how it both impacts and reflects healthy aging and longevity. We are most interested in applicants with demonstrated experience in applying molecular and cell biological approaches to study skin, and an ability to carry out longitudinal studies that can ascertain causal events in skin aging. The candidate should also have a breadth of organismal knowledge to relate skin aging to changes in other tissue systems. The successful candidate will be highly motivated to choose novel approaches and have a long-term, original research program with the goal of dissecting causal events in aging.
Principal Investigators at Calico are expected to lead independent, productive research groups in a fully-funded, highly collaborative environment with support from state-of-the art core technology, including biochemistry, genomics, mass spectrometry, microscopy and computational biology. Principal Investigators are encouraged to share their research with the scientific community via publications and seminars.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. and/or MD, have led an independent research program and have a strong record of originality and productivity. Applicants from industry and academia are welcomed. Please include a description of research interests and Resume/CV in the application.
