    Calico is a research and development company whose mission is to harness advanced technologies in order to gain understanding of aging and develop interventions that will address aging-related disease. Executing on this mission will require an unprecedented level of interdisciplinary effort and a long-term focus for which funding is already in place.

    Position description:

    We are looking for an outstanding imaging scientist joining our preclinical imaging team. Your role will focus on developing imaging protocols for computed tomography (CT) and image analysis strategies for the characterization of mammalian aging and age-related diseases, primarily in rodent models. Our facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art high-resolution micro-CT system and other imaging modalities (MRI, ultrasound, bioluminescence). A key responsibility of the role is the implementation and validation of imaging strategies using animal models as well as their application for discovery and translational projects. You will be developing imaging strategies in collaboration with scientists working on the biology of aging in a dynamic collaborative environment. We are focused on technology innovation and automation to generate robust in vivo biomarkers advancing our understanding of aging.     Position requirements:

    • Ph.D. degree with 2 years of experience or MS degree with 6 years of experience in Physics, Biomedical Engineering or similar field
    • Candidates should have strong programming skills (MATLAB, C++/C, Python, R) and experience with advanced image analysis techniques
    • Prior experience with rodent imaging and handling is also highly desirable
    • Good writing, presentation and communication skills are required to thrive in this role
    • Strong interest and basic understanding of the biology of age-related diseases

    Nice to have:

    • Experience and familiarity with MILabs micro-CT systems
    • Expertise in X-ray physics, CT image generation and image reconstruction
    • Expertise in developing disease models in animals
    • Familiarity with computer vision and machine learning techniques
