Alkahest is seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance to manage all financial aspects of the Company. Serving as an integral member of the leadership team, the VP of Finance is responsible for overall day-to-day management of the accounting, finance, and procurement functions, which include financial reporting, financial information systems, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, tax, fixed assets, internal controls and purchasing.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Manage and mentor a growing team in Accounting, FP&A and Procurement
Ensure the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements are completed on a timely basis and in accordance with GAAP
Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process
Active member on the company’s leadership team, participating in decisions on company operations and ensuring compliance with financial policies
Act as primary liaison with Finance and Treasury departments of parent company, Grifols International, S.A.
Ensure tight control over cash management, including requesting funds from our parent organization on a timely basis.
Clinical trial accounting management, including monthly monitoring of clinical studies, ensuring timely and accurate accrual entries and reporting
Manage financial information systems design, implementation, enhancement, monitoring and controls
Ensure financials are always audit ready and assist parent company with audit support, including analysis of technical accounting issues
Oversee compliance and filings of all areas of tax, including corporate tax returns and use tax
Operational experience in SOX 404(b) environment including oversight of internal controls
Assist with identifying process improvements, implementing changes, and ensuring best practices Participate in, or lead, ad hoc projects, as needed
CPA with bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
10+ years of progressive experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, ideally in a high growth biotech company
Proven ability to thoughtfully evaluate processes, identify opportunities for improvement and successfully execute on those plans
In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and clinical trial accounting
Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
Experience with QuickBooks and Bill.com a plus
Ability to understand financial systems and workflow and experience with system implementations a plus
Strong communication skills (oral & written); able to effectively interact with all levels internally and externally – within and outside of finance; able to tailor communications to the audience to achieve desired results
Attention to detail with ability to move easily between hands-on work and strategic thinking
Team player, positive and confident, with high energy drive
Ability to multitask and prioritize
Strong leadership skills with a desire to nurture, train, and grow the existing finance group
Working knowledge of Spanish and EU accounting rules is an asset, but not a requirement
