Scientist - Next Generation Sequencing. NGS is Dyno’s workhorse tool for our platform and in this role you will collaborate across R&D to construct NGS libraries, build systems for NGS library preps, develop new NGS protocols, support automated data analysis and data interpretation, and mentor junior staff. Crucial to this role is careful coordination of samples and communication between multiple fast-paced teams, along with a strong sense of organization, attention to detail, consistency, and rigor. This role is a part of the Library Cloning team at Dyno, this group works closely with the Machine Learning and Project Teams to clone high-quality libraries for Vector Production to discover and validate best in class capsids to deliver gene therapies to patients.
How You Will Contribute
In this highly collaborative role, you will work across R&D groups to prepare NGS libraries, coordinate NGS across Dyno’s platform and analyze the quality of NGS library preparations while also developing, and optimizing detailed protocols as the need arises. You will collaborate with scientists and computational biologists – learning from and contributing to a diverse set of projects. You will be responsible for understanding project goals and for developing creative solutions to ensure their success.
Prepare NGS libraries from DNA and RNA samples
Build systems to quantify, QC, and prepare library samples to load on NGS instruments at Dyno or with CROs
Establish and maintain a sample submission and tracking system to coordinate NGS runs on the Nextseq across Platform teams
Manage sample and data handling between wet-lab and data science teams
Prepare reports and present results in team and company-wide meetings
Assist in lab organization, including ordering supplies and restocking
Develop new NGS protocols for use in unbiased sequencing
Work closely with and mentor junior staff

PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field
5+ years laboratory experience with significant hands-on experience preparing, quantifying, and QCing a variety of NGS libraries for Illumina sequencing platforms, including:
Experience with 2 or more of the following: RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, whole-genome sequencing, single-cell RNA sequencing, ATAC-seq, SPLiT-Seq, etc.
Experience with sample indexing and multiplexing strategies for cDNA and DNA libraries
Familiarity with Illumina SAV interface, charts, their meanings, and an ability to monitor and troubleshoot runs as needed.
Strong molecular biology background to draw on when adapting or developing new sequencing capabilities.
Strong quantitative skills
Experience with custom NGS library preparation from highly diverse or difficult samples
Familiarity with non-Illumina NGS platforms, such as PacBio, Oxford Nanopore, IonTorrent
Experience with NGS sequencing data analysis and visualization tools
Experience with automated liquid handlers and sample tracking
Prior experience managing direct reports in a laboratory setting
