    Company
    Scholar Rock Inc.
Scholar Rock is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of innovative medicines for the treatment of serious diseases in which signaling by protein growth factors plays a fundamental role.
Our most advanced investigational product candidate, apitegromab (SRK-015), a selective inhibitor of the activation of the growth factor myostatin in skeletal muscle, is in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA. Following positive results from the TOPAZ Phase 2 trial in patients with Type 2 and Type 3 SMA, we are planning to advance to a Phase 3 trial by year-end. In addition, we are conducting our DRAGON Phase 1 proof-of-concept trial for SRK-181, a selective inhibitor of latent TGFβ1 activation, in patients with locally advanced and metastatic solid tumors.
By combining our deep structural insights with antibody drug discovery, Scholar Rock is creating a pipeline of novel product candidates with the potential to transform the lives of patients suffering from a wide range of serious diseases, including neuromuscular disorders, cancer, and fibrosis.
    Summary of Position:
At Scholar Rock, our mission is to help patients with serious illnesses through innovative thinking, cutting edge science, and a passion for discovering and developing novel therapeutics. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Sr./Associate Scientist in cell biology to support our drug discovery programs. This candidate will have a hands-on role in establishing cell-based assays to address biological hypotheses and identify novel therapeutic antibodies. Working closely with other in vitro/ in vivo biology colleagues, this team member will employ cellular and molecular techniques to develop assays and execute functional and mechanistic studies. This person will play a crucial role in the identification and characterization of potential drugs at the discovery and preclinical stages and will have great exposure to the drug discovery process. The successful candidate will be an ambitious and energetic self-starter who is motivated to apply their skills and creativity to drug discovery and enjoys working in a fast-paced team setting.

    Position Responsibilities:

      • Establish and optimize necessary cell-based functional and disease relevant assays to support drug discovery programs.
      • Execute research plans for in vitro studies and support in vivo studies as needed.
      • Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols and data in laboratory notebooks in accordance with company policy.
      • Analyze, interpret, and report experimental results to team members and management.
      • Actively contribute to critical cross-functional team discussions.

    Candidate Requirements:

      • BA/BS or MS in cell or molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field with 2-5 years of experience in drug discovery research.
      • Must have experience developing and performing mammalian cell-based functional assays. Experience with animal models and in vivo pharmacology studies is a plus.
      • Extensive experience with cell and molecular biology techniques such as mammalian cell culture, DNA and RNA extraction, qPCR, protein quantification, and ELISA is required. Experience with flow cytometric analysis is desired.
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot problems and propose creative solutions.
      • Ability to effectively communicate and document research.
      • Self-motivated and comfortable operating independently and within teams in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Scholar Rock is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
