Loyal is an early stage company developing drugs to help dogs live longer, healthier lives. We apply innovative approaches to tackling aging as a disease that can be slowed and improved with medicines. Loyal is an early stage start-up company and is well funded by top venture capitalists and angels. Loyal is founded and led by a first-gen, female CEO – we encourage and look forward to diverse applicants.
Loyal is hiring an events coordination intern to join our team. Loyal believes in connecting people and building a community around aging biology. We’re looking for someone who is excited to help us by organizing meaningful community programs. As events intern, you’ll work across different Loyal teams alongside the consumer team to run events (in-person and virtual). This is an excellent opportunity to gain community building skills and operational know-how.
What you'll do:
You will run virtual and IRL events at our SF office including monthly aging seminars with guest speakers, hackathons, and other community events. This includes:
Plan and execute events from start to finish, including scheduling, attendee management, food and drink management.
Choose and invite guest speakers for seminar events.
Maintain existing and develop new relationships with local vendors.
Oversee live-stream events and set up necessary tech.
Work cross-collaboratively with various Loyal teams’ visions for each event.
Potentially collaborate with external parties to co-plan community events.
Track and measure the success of events.
Develop plans to improve the planning and execution of events.
Work with Operations to assess and maintain standardized budget for events.
Who you are:
Excellent attention to detail. You like planning things and thinking through all the components. You sweat the small stuff and leave no detail untouched!
You would represent Loyal positively from behind-the-scenes event execution to in-person coordination and communication with customers, vendors, and internal team members.
A creative mind who likes bringing and executing new ideas from scratch.
Working with people outside of your team and outside of the company excites you. You like collaborating with new people and figuring problems out together
Prior event planning experience (helpful but not required)
Our Values
The Fundamentality of Health | Good health is critical to every other human (and animal!) experience. We believe health is a fundamental right and are dedicating our lives to maximizing health and developing better medicines for the worst diseases.
Truth Seeking & Feedback Loops | Uniquely in biology, there is a predetermined truth of whether a specific drug will work or not — we just have to catch up with biology! We seek out this truth and do not shy away from inconvenient truths. This holds for personal development too: we are always searching for feedback loops and embody a perpetual growth mindset.
Morality & Empathy | We are developing medicines that may one day be given to a living animal, medicines that if designed badly could hurt that animal instead of help. This is a huge responsibility and should be respected as such. Our work needs to adhere to the strictest moral code and always integrate empathy for the patient.
Transparency | We believe full transparency in thoughts, opinions, intentions, and actions (both good ones and mistakes) is a better way to build a business and work together.
Kindness | Great business(wo)men do not need to be ruthless — you can execute excellently with kindness.
