The Company is seeking to hire a Senior Scientist, DMPK with established expertise in mass spectrometry and ADME sciences applied in drug discovery and early development. The incumbent will contribute to the strategy and assay development to characterize the distribution, metabolism, and excretion of oligonucleotides and their catabolites to support candidate selection through IND/CTA submission and into early clinical development. This role requires a strong technical background in mass spectrometry, ideally with experience generating and interpreting high resolution mass spectral data for complex molecules. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strategic thinking of how to apply this discipline to identify and understand ADME challenges. The Senior Scientist will be a key team member on oligonucleotide projects and will collaborate with colleagues in Medicinal Chemistry, Safety Assessment, Biology, and Development Sciences.
Acquire and interpret high-resolution mass spectral data to characterize the catabolism pathways of candidate oligonucleotides in vitro and in vivo
Be a key contributor to DMPK strategy by identifying and addressing oligonucleotide ADME-centered needs to understand target biology, support chemistry strategy, and to complete candidate molecule profiling
Guide project teams to the necessary in vitro and in vivo DMPK studies that enable candidate selection, and support IND-enabling and clinical development of oligonucleotides
Adapt existing approaches, and develop and confirm new strategies, for ADME assays that fit the specific needs of oligonucleotide projects
Partner with CROs to establish protocols/assays and to generate pivotal data sets
Mentor and support junior DMPK scientists
PhD in Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics, Chemistry or related scientific discipline with a minimum 3-5 years of biotech/pharmaceutical drug discovery and development experience; or BS/MS with 10+ years of experience.
Proven scientific expertise in applying liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry of molecules and their metabolites/catabolites
Excellent critical thinking and scientific skills in DMPK assays to characterize biotransformation and pharmacokinetics of lead molecules
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with scientists on cross-functional projects teams
Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills
