mRNA Synthesis & Production Scientist

Job Description

Turn Biotechnologies is currently seeking a qualified, highly motivated individual for the position of Senior Scientist/Scientist- Upstream mRNA Process Development.

The employee will be a highly motivated and innovative individual responsible for the scientific/technical aspects of upstream mRNA process development of novel mRNA-based therapeutics for the treatment of age-related diseases. This lab-based position will be essential to the process development and production of Turn’s cutting-edge technology platform for therapeutic application across its indication pipeline.

Based in Mountain View, California, Turn Biotechnologies, Inc. is a development-stage company focused on restoring cells’ youthful vigor to repair damage caused by the aging process. Using a proprietary ERA™ Platform, we develop mRNA medicines that are specially formulated to instruct specific cells in the body to fight disease or repair damaged tissue. We do this by reprogramming the epigenome to restore cell function that people often lose as they age. This approach can be used to revitalize different cells throughout the body. We are researching its applicability across multiple therapeutic areas, including dermatology, ophthalmology, osteocartilage, and skeletal muscular indications.

Essential duties of the position include:

• Process development using chromatography and associated technologies and methods
• mRNA synthesis and production
• mRNA purification
• Organize data, maintain detailed records, and effectively communicate results
• Develop, validate, and write laboratory protocols and technical reports

Additional duties may include:

• Molecular cloning
• QC method and assay development
• qPCR and enzyme assay development

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, or related discipline; or candidates with an MS and relevant industry experience will be considered
• Upstream mRNA process development in an industry setting is required and will determine the position level
• Extensive experience in molecular biology, specifically involving mRNA, is required
• Expertise running and optimizing AKTA systems for mRNA purification is required
• Collaboration with other team members and across company programs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Auxiliary

• Experience in gene/mRNA therapeutics
• Experience in cell culture work and in vitro assays
