An exciting opportunity is available for a Technician, C. elegans Culture to join Altos Labs. We are seeking very highly motivated and collaborative individuals who are passionate and dedicated about employing their expertise to unravel the deep biology of cell health and resilience. We work at the level of the genome, cell, tissues, and organisms and focus on potential interventions to reverse, halt or mitigate the effects of ageing.
Who You Are
We are interested to hear from people with the following minimum requirements for role:
Extensive experience of working with the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.
A strong sense of collective ownership of projects within the group and Altos.
Demonstrated high productivity and ability to complete work in a timely manner.
Problem-solving skills to identify potential issues, test, and develop innovative solutions.
Ability to organize work and set priorities.
Ability to focus on details to produce accurate, quality work driven by deadlines.
Enthusiasm to work with others in a team.
Computer skills, including proficiency with Google apps, Excel, and PowerPoint graphic skills to produce documents.
Carry out primarily C. elegans-based experiments.
Perform stress and survival assays.
Generate transgenic animals.
Generate and curate cryostocks of nematodes.
Carry out quality control checks of the nematode and bacterial collection.
Receive and dispatch nematodes as required.
Work with members of the group and institute to develop and implement assays for measuring various in vivo characteristics.
Identify and validate rejuvenating interventions.
Support and manage internal/external collaborations in multidisciplinary projects.
Candidates with strong experience in the following fields are preferred:
Extensive experience in molecular biology and in handling C. elegans.
Experience in germ line injection is greatly appreciated.
Experience in genomic techniques is a plus.
Screening experience using mutagens or RNAi would be excellent.
Experience in various functional assays of health and for survival would be very much appreciated.
