What You Will Contribute To Altos
The Altos Institute of Medicine will capture knowledge generated about cell health and re-programming and develop transformative medicines. We are seeking a highly experienced human geneticist and biotechnology executive to contribute a better understanding of the biology of disease to be one of the founding senior leaders of the Altos Institute of Medicine. The Head of Human Genetics reports to the Chief Medical Officer and will contribute to the design and building of the Institute of Medicine.
The successful candidate is a demonstrated scientific visionary and strategic leader who builds high-performing teams, and drives innovation to develop new medicines. The Head of Human Genetics will build a scientific and technical organization that brings together a deep understanding of disease biology and how genetics can assist in drug development, has proven expertise in current and emerging technologies, has the ability and passion to generate scientific insights and who demonstrates a capability for using innovative approaches. Our success depends upon a culture of intense collaboration, enthusiasm, and openness. The Head of Human Genetics is a key member of teams that span multiple therapeutic areas.
As a member of the Institute of Institute of Medicine Leadership Team, you will play a key role in developing, shaping and implementing the overall strategy of Altos in the areas of:
Envisioning and leading interactions with scientists in the three Altos Science Institutes
Seek, develop, and maintain valuable external partnerships that add value, create flexibility, access expertise and drive enhanced returns for Altos
Harvest and analyze genetic and genomic variations and use those discoveries to dissect the molecular and cellular basis of disease
Use those insights to enable development of transformative medicines
Plans or conducts genomic and biological research related to areas such as regulation of gene expression, protein interactions, metabolic networks, and nucleic acid or protein complexes.
Prepares results of experimental findings for presentation at professional conferences or in scientific journals.
Confers with information technology, computational biology and machine learning specialists to enable genetic data analysis.
Build a team culture that promotes continuous improvement, ownership, professional growth, and inclusion

Who You Are
MD, PhD or MD/PhD degree(s) and at least 15 years of experience in drug discovery
Proven capability to lead, motivate and inspire in a diverse, global, cross-functional structure and commit to diversity, equity and belonging. A strong record of developing and mentoring excellent leaders
A critical thinker with the ability to analyze possibilities and solutions and make pragmatic trade-offs, as well as a big picture innovator who can identify possibilities and is comfortable with ambiguity
Clear and influential communicator: exceptional influencing skills that demonstrate strong thought partnership and create effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent collaboration skills and ability to build and connect strong teams and build community across Altos
