    Company
    Scholar Rock Inc.
Scholar Rock is a Phase 3, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of innovative medicines for the treatment of serious diseases in which signaling by protein growth factors plays a fundamental role.

Our most advanced investigational product candidate, apitegromab (SRK-015), a selective inhibitor of the activation of the growth factor myostatin in skeletal muscle, is in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA. Following positive results from the TOPAZ Phase 2 trial in patients with Type 2 and Type 3 SMA, we are now advancing apitegromab development through SAPPHIRE, an ongoing, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 clinical trial. In addition, we are conducting our DRAGON Phase 1 proof-of-concept trial for SRK-181, a selective inhibitor of latent TGFβ1 activation, in patients with locally advanced and metastatic solid tumors.
By combining our deep structural insights with antibody drug discovery, Scholar Rock is creating a pipeline of novel product candidates with the potential to transform the lives of patients suffering from a wide range of serious diseases, including neuromuscular disorders, cancer, and fibrosis.
    Summary of Position:
At Scholar Rock, our mission is to help patients with serious illnesses through innovative thinking, cutting edge science, and a passion for discovering and developing novel biologic therapeutics. We are seeking an outstanding Scientist to join our Discovery Biology team. This individual will have broad responsibilities to lead and contribute to biology and preclinical pharmacology efforts across rare fibrotic diseases. The successful candidate will make a significant impact in building a mechanistic understanding of our therapeutic candidates through in vitro and in vivo pharmacology experiments and will collaborate closely with internal research teams covering preclinical sciences including the bioanalytical and translational biomarker groups and protein sciences.

    Candidate Responsibilities:

      • Independently execute and analyze in vivo pharmacology assays including downstream analysis to advance therapeutic candidates.
      • Lab based support of bioanalytical and translational biomarker efforts across in vivo pharmacology models.
      • Independently develop, execute, and analyze mechanistic studies including in vitro assay development with primary human cells.
      • Support our culture of scientific excellence and cross-functional collaboration.
      • Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols and data in laboratory notebooks in accordance with company policy.
      • Ensure each activity is effectively prioritized with appropriate use of internal resources, CROs, and academic / industrial collaborations to deliver optimal results.
      • Analyze, interpret and present experimental results at internal and external meetings.
      • This position will include a significant laboratory bench component.

    Candidate Requirements

      • PhD in pharmacology, molecular biology, or related field with 0-1 years of related experience, MS with 6+ years of experience, or BS with 8+ years of industry experience in similar roles will be considered.
      • The preferred candidate will possess a strong understanding of molecular and cell biology methods and pharmacology. Experience designing and conducting in vivo experiments in preclinical models of human disease and managing external CROs is a strong plus.
      • Skilled in standard molecular biology techniques such Western blot analyses, ELISAs, and quantitative PCR. Experience with mammalian cell culture, including primary cells and cell-based assays, is a plus.
      • Familiarity with antibody therapeutics and pharmacology models of fibrosis are a plus.
      • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, flexibility, and a willingness to contribute to laboratory experiments
      • Self-motivated with strong collaboration skills and comfortable operating independently and within teams.
      • Ability to balance resources and priorities to concurrently deliver on multiple objectives under ambitious timelines and thrive in a small, interactive, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial drug-discovery environment.
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Scholar Rock is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
