What You Will Contribute to Altos
In partnership with a Lab Manager, this position is accountable for performing administrative and technical tasks on a day-to-day basis in support of a lab's operational needs and research. Responsibilities include:
- Manage day-to-day activities within the research laboratories, including ensuring the operation of essential equipment, and making sure adequate supplies are available for routine experimental procedures.
- Develop laboratory guidelines and SOPs, and maintain procedures manuals.
- Train new team members on lab operations. May provide process and technical training to others as needed.
- Act as liaison between the lab and the operations team on issues such as fixed asset inventories, purchasing, receiving, safety, and compliance.
- Interact with external vendors and sales representatives.
- Develop and maintain lab collections and databases.
- Schedule laboratory meetings and organize lab events.
- Prepare media and stock solutions as needed.
- Use the autoclave and dishwasher as needed.
- Oversee Tissue Culture Room cleanliness. Monitor and execute incubator sterilization.
- Clean all Bio Safety Cabinets on a regular basis, and Tissue Culture and Bio Safety Level 2 room.
- Expand and bank mammalian cell lines.
- Carry out molecular and cell biology techniques as part of ongoing projects in the lab.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in the Life Sciences or other relevant field.
- A minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience with molecular and cellular biology experimental techniques.
- Solid understanding of underlying scientific principles with the demonstrated ability to learn new laboratory techniques.
- A strong interest in laboratory operations, along with a genuine desire to help and support.
- Strong attention to detail with highly accurate work products.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency with the Mac platform, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workplace, with the ability to learn new software applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people at all levels. Ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a diverse population.
- Ability to use good judgment in responding to inquiries.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently.
- Ability to be a team player who can work well both as part of a large group and independently.
- Ability to keep accurate records of work performed via Benchling.
- Actively seeks opportunities to increase skills and expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
