We are a well-funded, untraditional bio startup based in Redwood City. Retro develops therapies for diseases driven by the biology of aging. We work on (1) partial reprogramming, (2) blood factors, and (3) autophagy to rejuvenate cell and tissue function with the ultimate aim of adding years to a healthy human lifespan by 10 years.
We are seeking a highly motivated (senior) research scientist in Liver Pathology to contribute to our rejuvenation therapies. The candidate will be experienced in liver physiology and pathology, in vitro and in vivo modeling of liver healthy and diseased conditions. This position is ideal for an individual who is entrepreneurial and dedicated to improving human health.
In this role you will:
Lead the conceptual design, development and execution of in vitro functional assays specifically for our targeted liver conditions;
Development and maintenance of disease animal models;
Lead the design and execution of in vivo protocols and evaluation of liver pathology, with resourceful support from multiple other groups;
Involved in highly collaborative work, such as in vivo gene delivery, HTP screening, NGS, machine learning, and platform automation;
Analyze, summarize and present experimental data to the internal team and collaborators;
Maintain an electronic lab notebook and contribute to support documents;
Regular lab organization and orders
You might thrive in this role if you:
Have a PhD in liver physiology and pathology, experience in in vitro and in vivo modeling of liver conditions. 3+ years of post-degree research experience highly preferred;
Having working knowledge of clinical trials is a plus;
Have working experience with cellular reprogramming, and NGS, particularly scRNA-seq, is a plus;
Are energetic, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and deeply pragmatic.

The annual salary range for this role is $130,000 - $160,000. Total compensation also includes generous equity and benefits.
