Senior Scientist / Associate Director (Research)

Deciduous Therapeutics is an early stage, venture-backed biotech company based in San Francisco, California developing novel therapies to activate the endogenous immune system to treat age related diseases.

We are looking for a highly ambitious and talented senior scientist/associate director to join our team and play a critical role in our research and drug discovery efforts. You will be an early team member and play a key leadership role overseeing our in vivo teams’ efforts towards nominating development candidates across several therapeutic areas. Key Responsibilities and Job Functions

• Lead projects to advance drug candidates based on structure activity relationships (SAR), PK-PD, efficacy, and safety/tolerability profiles
• Oversee strategy and operations of internal lab in vivo studies along with external collaborations (e.g., in vivo studies at contract research organizations and academic collaborations)
• Independently lead pharmacology activities for 1-2 exploratory projects assessing the potential for our novel biological mechanism to address additional disease indications and meet clinically relevant therapeutic endpoints; this includes establishing and validating murine disease models in house
• Establish biomarker development strategy, identifying disease-relevant analytes for preclinical and clinical validation
• Manage and mentor scientific staff to ensure efficient experiment execution in a collaborative, matrixed environment
• Use common data analysis tools (Excel, Prism, FlowJo) and keep detailed documentation in an electronic lab notebook
• Prepare high quality presentations for company-wide research updates

Qualifications and Skills

• PhD, or similar experience, in immunology or related relevant discipline (post-doctoral training is a plus) with 5+ years of experience in drug development in industry preferred
• Proven track record developing murine disease models across multiple therapeutic areas
• Broad expertise with all aspects of in vivo rodent research (dosing routes, anesthesia, surgical procedures, necropsy, tissue processing, etc.)
• Technical expertise with flow cytometry, histopathology, immunohistochemistry/fluorescence, qPCR, western blots, and plate-based immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, MSD, Luminex)
• Extensive knowledge of and experience with pharmacology, PK-PD relationships, and interrogating molecular target engagement and downstream physiological endpoints
• Experience and strong capabilities in managing, developing, and mentoring scientists and research associates
• Experience with preparation of final research documents and slides to support regulatory filings (e.g., IND) and partnering efforts
• Results-oriented individual with exceptional organization, attention to detail, scientific versatility, flexibility, critical thinking, and communication skills

Compensation
