    Position Description:

    Calico is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join the Brain Aging team to support research projects focusing on fundamental neuroscience and the discovery of novel targets for delaying age-related pathologies of the central nervous system. The successful candidate will conduct extensive experimental in vitro and in vivo work employing cutting-edge technologies spanning functional genomics, high-throughput sequencing, and advanced imaging approaches. Passion for research, attention to detail, a flexible way of thinking, motivation to learn new methods and a strong collaborative mindset are key requirements enabling the candidate to contribute to the lab’s interdisciplinary projects. Prior experience in neuroscience, neurology or related fields is preferable. This position is ideal for a candidate seeking to perform early-stage discovery research in a dynamic R&D environment with an opportunity to expand their skill set.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Independently conduct experiments – including laboratory animal work; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes
    • Develop and implement new techniques to support ongoing projects
    • Work closely with team members, delivering and communicating results
    • Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research

    Position Requirements:

    • BS with 2+ or MS degree with 1+ years of laboratory research experience
    • Experience with cell/tissue processing for microscopy, flow cytometry, transcriptome profiling and/or culture
    • Comfortable working with laboratory animals
    • Strong attention to detail, excellent planning, and problem-solving skills
    • Candidate must be self-motivated, organized and adaptable, being able to learn quickly, respond to shifting priorities and handle projects simultaneously
    • Must be willing to work onsite at least four days a week
