We are a well-funded, untraditional bio startup based in Redwood City. Retro develops therapies for diseases driven by the biology of aging. We work on (1) partial reprogramming, (2) blood factors, and (3) autophagy to rejuvenate cell and tissue function with the ultimate aim of adding years to a healthy human lifespan by 10 years.
We are seeking a highly motivated Reprogramming Scientist to join the cellular reprogramming biology team designing and characterizing cellular reprogramming approaches for Adoptive T-cell therapies.
In this role you will:
Design and execute ambitious experiments to develop and characterize rejuvenation processes using transcription factors, modRNA and small molecule drugs in vitro and in vivo
Identify and validate reprogramming markers in vitro and in vivo.
Characterize reprogramming intermediates by genome-wide approaches.
Reprogram cells with viral reprogramming approaches (Sendai, Lenti, Retro, AAV), as well as non-virus approaches like plasmids and/or LNP/RNAs.
Isolate and expand human T cells from PBMCs and Leukopaks.
Interface closely with a bioinformatician to analyze single-cell omics and DNA methylation data.
You might thrive in this role if you:
Have a PhD degree. Postdoctoral studies with 2-4 years of relevant experience is a plus.
Are knowledeable in immunology, stem cell, developmental, and reprogramming biology, as well as multicolor flow cytometry.
Have exprience with human and/or mouse iPSC cellular reprogramming.
Have a deep understanding of epigenetic and transcriptional regulation.
Have worked with T cell reprogramming or derived T-cells from iPSCs
Have experience with assay development and drug screening. High-throughput drug screenings are a plus.
Have experience with high-throughput genetic screenings (ORF, CRISPRa/i, CRISPR KO/KI) is highly desirable.
You’re energetic, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and deeply pragmatic. You thrive in a culture that embraces rapid iteration and open, straightforward communication.
Have a burning desire to understand aging biology through the lens of modern data-rich measurement technologies.
