    Position description:

    Calico is seeking a motivated scientist to join and collaborate with researchers on projects that involve gene delivery in vivo.  Research will be conducted in close collaboration with multidisciplinary scientists at Calico. We provide a stimulating and collaborative working environment focused on fundamental discovery research and a commitment to translate scientific advances to realize their therapeutic potential.

    Responsibilities:

    This position will be responsible for conducting animal and cell culture work, developing, or applying methods to manipulate genes/pathways in mice, analyzing and presenting data. A successful candidate will have good communication skills, sufficient understanding of the in vivo system, be passionate about making scientific discoveries, and advancing technologies/methods related to gene delivery in vivo (e.g., AAVs, LNPs, etc.).

    Position requirement:

    • Ph.D. in biological sciences or related areas
    • Experience in working with AAV or LNPs
    • Experience with in vivo techniques, including mouse handling, necropsy, dosing
    • Experience in cell culture, molecular biology and cell biology techniques
    • Ability to conduct research, analyze data and present findings
    • Demonstrate productivity through publications or patents
    • Must be willing to work onsite at least four days per week

    Nice to have:

    • Knowledge of LNP formulation and particle characterization
    • Demonstrate expertise in multi-disciplinary, multi-organ systems, including lung, liver, spleen etc.
    • Experience in histology, imaging, FACS etc.
    • Experience in performing survival procedures (e.g., surgeries, imaging) in mice

    The estimated base salary range for this role is $127,000 - $135,000. Actual pay will be based on a number of factors including experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for two annual cash bonuses.
