eGenesis is seeking a GMP Laboratory Technician to join the Embryo Production team to support day to day operations in our GMP-compliant lab. In this role, you will support production activities of the pig embryo production laboratory, which is a cleanroom, GMP-compliant laboratory. The primary responsibilities for this position include media preparation, embryo production documentation and record keeping, and general laboratory maintenance tasks. Opportunities for growth in this position include porcine oocyte/embryo handling and characterization, cell culture, and embryo micromanipulation. Success factors for this role include having a strong scientific background, experience following written protocols, and being comfortable working alongside others with, or as, a verifier.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform reconstitution of reagents and aliquot into single-use aliquots
Using a precise scale, measure out reagents according to a strict media recipe to generate complex medias
Perform testing on media, as dictated by the protocol
Work with on-site Operations staff to ensure components and base medias required are purchased
Perform final processing of medias, including filtering, aliquoting, and labelling according to procedures.
Record Keeping
Maintain detailed records and document laboratory processes and equipment operations
Create, document, and verify records for production
Perform material entry procedures and assist with inventory management and lab material intake to ensure production team has necessary supplies
Assist in laboratory upkeep, including cleaning and equipment calibration
Perform additional laboratory tasks, such as environmental monitoring, as requested
Assist in other laboratory duties, as needed
Learn cell culture activities including, but not limited to: thawing, plating, culturing and detaching cells for the production process
Learn oocyte and embryo handling to assist with embryo production
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science in relevant area, preferably with 2+ years of relevant experience in an in vitro embryo production lab in an academic or industry setting
Proficient at aseptic laboratory technique
Familiarity with Quality Control procedures - comfortable following SOPs and Procedures
Comfortable maintaining and using laboratory equipment
Media preparation experience preferred
Familiar with good documentation practices, preferably with an electronic lab notebook
Knowledge and expertise in IVF, cell culture, embryo handling and characterization, or willingness to learn
