We are hiring a Data Engineer to join the rapidly growing Bioinformatics team! We are looking for someone with a strong technical background to drive forward multiple data pipeline projects and grow their skillset. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid programming background who wants to transition into data engineering.

Loyal is an early stage company, which means there are no stringent hierarchies, silos or bureaucracy. While you will be ultimately responsible for executing key data engineering projects, you will have ample opportunity to work with, learn from, and influence other sides of the company.

As part of the Bioinformatics team you will:

• Develop data processing pipelines to collect and store data, both locally and in the cloud

• Work with multiple stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, to facilitate preprocessing and analysis of data

• Create documentation for data handling and storage processes

• Contribute expertise to compute infrastructure decision-making and strategy

• Provide advice and support on data management best practices for ongoing studies, both internally and externally facing

Basic Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.

• 1-5 years of relevant experience, course projects count

• Experience with python (particularly pandas, numpy) and git

• Experience creating/contributing to one or more data pipelines (again, course projects count)

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related field; PhD in a data-intensive program (biology, psychology, etc).

• Experience with AWS, relational databases, Apache Spark, Airflow, Kafka
