Calico is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to join the mass spectrometry proteomics group. To succeed, you will need to be an enthusiastic team player, detail-oriented, organized and comfortable working on complex problems. The work will involve developing and applying proteome profiling methods and protein interaction profiling technologies such as CETSA, PISA and native fractionation techniques. The work will also involve profiling post translational modifications (PTMs). You will work with many different sample types and body fluids from aging-related disease samples, optimize and develop sample preparation and mass spectrometry methods. You will have access to state of the art LC-MS/MS platforms as well as high throughput automated liquid handlers. This post-doctoral position is ideal for someone who excels at wet lab but also has some computational biology training.
Develop and lead proteomics projects such as proteome profiling methods for studying proteome profiling in aging and aging related diseases. In particular, this will include proteome profiling of protein complexes, protein interactions and PTMs
Develop and optimize proteomics protocols and apply to a wide variety of samples such as aging and aging-related disease samples
Collaborate with scientists both in the proteomics group and outside to apply novel and optimized proteomics workflows to investigate aging and aging related diseases
PhD, in proteomics, biochemistry, chemistry, biology or related field
Experience in sample preparation and method development for proteomics
Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting HPLCs and mass spectrometers
Experience in PTMs

Experience in R/Matlab/Python or other programing language
Experience in CETSA/PISA analysis

Calico’s program is a fixed-term educational assignment for individuals who have recently completed their PhD degrees, have had a meaningful first author paper accepted for publication, and have made important contributions to science in their area.
While postdocs will focus on their own project(s), mutually agreed to in principle and prior to making the decision to join the mentor’s lab, the expectation is that they all contribute to furthering our understanding of aging and age-related diseases.
Postdoc assignments are up to four years in length. It is expected that the postdoc will receive regular feedback and guidance from their mentor in addition to participating in a more formal annual review process to discuss project progress, individual performance, and career coaching.
Our postdoc projects are expected to yield work that can be submitted for publication in a timely fashion upon completion and are intended to train people to become independent investigators in an academic or industry setting upon successful completion of the assignment.
