    Company
    Loyal
Loyal is adding a Director of Clinical Operations to lead the day-to-day and strategic vision for our clinical operations team. The ultimate responsibility of this role will be to ensure our clinical studies are run excellently.
This person will lead our existing Clinical Operations team to conduct clinical trials, spearhead core clinical workflows such as trial site recruitment and engagement, and work collaboratively with other teams to advise on areas like protocol development.

We are looking for someone who

      • Is passionate about changing biopharma industry norms
      • Wants to create new paradigms for clinical trial excellence
      • Is innovative in tackling some of the hardest problems in clinical research operations
      • Can balance big-picture strategy with detailed executional decisions
      • Will teach us to be better operators - in clinical contexts and outside

    You will

      • Lead a team of clinical operations associates to make Loyal’s clinical trials best-in-class for all involved - sites, pet parents, and our own internal teams
      • Lead the development Loyal’s clinical trial infrastructure, from Standard Operating Procedures to study-specific materials like Case Report Forms
      • Consult with our Clinical Development and Veterinary Translational Medicine teams to develop protocols that are able to both hit key scientific endpoints and prove the efficacy of our products
      • Work with the Consumer and Scientific Communications teams to build our brand in the veterinary community, and ensure we bring the “voice of the vet” into our trials

    Who you are

      • 7-15 years of experience managing clinical trials and clinical trial teams (sponsor-side or CRO experience preferred)
      • Deep understanding of the regulatory requirements and minutia of conducting clinical trials
      • Data-driven, analytical, and not afraid of asking hard questions about how things could be better
      • Creative and thoughtful in approaching complex problems and devising innovative solutions
      • Compassionate and proactive about scaling, developing, and managing teams
      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; masters’ degree a plus but not required

Reasons you might not like this role

      • We are small and scrappy; you may not have the resources you are used to having at larger companies
      • You will need to be comfortable adapting to change, and operating in a fast-paced, highly-regulated environment
      • You will need to be creative in solving problems, especially those without precedent
      • You will need to ramp up quickly to hit upcoming milestones
      • You will be leading a pre-existing team vs. building your own from scratch
    Our Values
Health | Good health is critical to every other human (and animal!) experience. We believe health is a fundamental right and are dedicating our lives to maximizing health and developing better medicines for the worst diseases.
Seeking & Feedback Loops | Uniquely in biology, there is a predetermined truth of whether a specific drug will work or not — we just have to catch up with biology! We seek out this truth and do not shy away from inconvenient truths. This holds for personal development too: we are always searching for feedback loops and embody a perpetual growth mindset.
Transparency | We believe full transparency in thoughts, opinions, intentions, and actions (both good ones and mistakes) is a better way to build a business and work together.
Morality & Empathy | We are developing medicines that may one day be given to a living animal, medicines that if designed badly could hurt that animal instead of help. This is a huge responsibility and should be respected as such. Our work needs to adhere to the strictest moral code and always integrate empathy for the patient.
Kindness | Great business(wo)men do not need to be ruthless — you can execute excellently with kindness.
Dog gifs | We love them.
