    Position description:

    Calico is inviting applications from highly motivated and experienced individuals who are excited to be part of an immuno-oncology scientific team in the laboratory of Dr. Jonathan Powell. The successful candidate will work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team, assisting Calico scientists with various early-stage oncology projects. The ideal candidate will be proficient working independently in the lab, using cutting-edge technology. Candidates will apply various laboratory techniques to ask specific, relevant questions, will explore mechanistic biological activity to identify potential therapeutic targets using both in vivo models and in vitro primary cell assays, and will contribute expertise to various cross-functional activities at Calico. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to participate in and contribute novel research activities to collaborative projects with our company partners.

    Position requirements:

    • BS or MS degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline (PhD not expected) with a minimum of 4 years relevant laboratory experience
    • Requisite skills include prior experience with mammalian cell culture, human and mouse primary immune cell culture, multi-color flow cytometry, protein biochemistry, and molecular biology.
    • Preferred skills include strong understanding and experience with performing mouse in vivo work (including tumor inoculation, growth monitoring, tissue collecting and processing, adoptive transfer, I.P, I.V., S.C., P.O.) across diverse animal models (tumor and other diseases)
    • The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and organized team player, will thrive on attention to detail and will have excellent verbal/written communication skills
    • Possesses excellent time management skills to multi-task across several projects
    • Must be willing to work onsite at least four days per week
