Calico is inviting applications from innovative scientists to join our Genomics Technology lab. Our lab is focused on understanding the age-related decline in epigenetic/transcriptional/genomic regulation and how it both impacts and reflects healthy aging and longevity. The ideal candidate is an intensely curious individual passionate about developing and applying creative NGS-based molecular methods to answer questions that are otherwise intractable in a variety of aging models and contexts.
Your primary responsibilities include identifying exciting avenues of aging research, collecting, and analyzing novel multi-omic genomics datasets, formulating actionable hypotheses, performing experiments in aging contexts, and working closely with collaborators across labs at Calico applying genomics-based assays.
This role will require close collaboration with Calico experts in our Computing, Biochemistry, and Physiology labs. We practice team science, and the ideal candidate is excited to utilize and grow a hybrid skill set and prides themselves on effective cooperation within a team and across the organization.
Ph.D. or M.S. in or cell biology or a related discipline with emphasis on gene regulation and/or chromatin biology
Strong foundational knowledge and experience with NGS chemistry and workflows.
Experience performing functional genomics assays (bulk or single cell)
Experience analyzing functional genomics data (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, etc.)
Track record of innovative technology development and assay design
Track record of productivity and effective collaboration
Clear verbal and written communication skills
Must be willing to work on-site at least four days per week.
Nice to have:
Programming experience in R and/or Python
Experience with Spatial NGS methods
Experience with long read sequencing methods
Experience with variety single cell methods (split pool, 10x, smart-seq)
Laboratory experience with mammalian cell culture or primary cell systems
