Located in Durham, NC, the company develops and manufactures acellular tissues for the treatment of diseases and conditions across a wide range of therapeutic areas. The company’s innovative technology supports tissue repair, reconstruction, and replacement while overcoming limitations in existing standards of care. Initially developing a portfolio of human acellular vessels (HAVs), to target multiple vascular markets including trauma, arteriovenous access for hemodialysis, peripheral arterial disease, and coronary artery bypass grafting. Humacyte is focused on the development of future markets such as pediatric heart surgery, delivery of cellular therapies, and multiple other novel cell and tissue systems.

Position Background:
This position will work to support development of preclinical products related to cell therapy with a particular focus on the treatment of Type I diabetes. The position will have a special emphasis on the culture of stem cells and differentiation of these cells into insulin-producing cells.
This position is part-time (up to 20 hours/week or less) with required work on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The successful candidate will be an essential part of the Discovery & Pipeline team, involved in implementing strategies to culture and differentiate stem cells, characterizing cells, and evaluating cell function in vitro and in vivo. This position requires a strong scientific background, adaptability, professional demeanor, and outstanding interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biomedical, Bioengineering or Molecular Biology is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of independent tissue culture experience, is required.
• This position is designed for weekend work (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
• Experience with stem cell research, preferred
• Experience with ELISA, a plus
• Experience in fluorescence imaging and image analysis, a plus
• Experience authoring and maintaining GxP documents, including SOPs and data reports is preferred.
• The ability to lift and hang a medium bag up to 20 lbs. on a stand over five-feet tall is required.
